Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions US firms and fund managers ask us most often.

Working with AmberStreet

How the relationship works from day to day.

Who do you work with?

US CPA and accounting firms, fund managers and fund accounting teams, private equity and deal teams, and finance teams at businesses. We act as an extension of your team and follow your methodology.

Do you sign off on the work?

No. We prepare the analysis, schedules and documentation. Your firm or finance team reviews the work and signs it, as it would for work from its own staff.

Can you work in our systems and templates?

Yes. We use the tools and templates your firm already has, so the work arrives in the format your reviewers expect.

How do you handle time zone differences?

We work in India Standard Time. When we scope the engagement, we agree overlap hours and handoff times that suit your US time zone, so that work can be ready when your day begins.

Can you add capacity for busy season?

Many US firms use offshore support for tax and audit peaks and for specific engagements. Tell us your calendar and volume, and we will confirm what we can staff.

Funds

Questions from fund managers and fund accountants.

Which fund types do you support?

Hedge funds, private equity and venture funds, funds of funds and registered funds such as mutual funds. Tell us your structure and reporting calendar, and we will confirm the scope.

Can you work to our month-end deadlines?

Yes. We agree the close calendar, deliverables and cut-off dates when we scope the engagement, and we plan the team around them.

Which fund systems do you work in?

We work in the systems your fund already uses, including administrator portals, accounting platforms and Excel-based models. Tell us what you use and we will confirm familiarity before work starts.

Do you support fund audits?

Yes. We support audit teams on fieldwork for investment funds, and we help fund finance teams prepare the schedules and support their auditors ask for.

Quality, security and compliance

How we keep work reviewable and information protected.

Which standards do you work to?

US GAAP, including investment company accounting (ASC 946), and IFRS where required. For audit, we work to the auditing standards your firm applies, and for tax we work to US federal and state rules.

How do you keep the work easy to review?

Schedules tie out, sources are referenced and workpapers follow your template. We clear every review comment and carry the feedback into later work.

How do you protect confidential information?

We sign NDAs, limit access to the people on your engagement and work inside your systems when you require it. The Quality and security page has the details.

Do you handle IRC §7216 consent for tax work?

Your firm owns the consent process. We support it, and we start tax work only after you confirm that consent is in place.

Do we need to tell our clients we use offshore support?

That depends on your firm's policies, your state's rules and the engagement. Many firms disclose it in engagement letters. We can explain how our work is organized, to help you prepare that language with your own advisers.

How do you use AI, and what happens to our data?

AI helps with routine steps such as data extraction, reconciliations and first drafts. A qualified accountant reviews every output, and client data goes only into approved, access-controlled tools. The AI page has the details.

Who leads the work?

Every engagement has a named lead. The firm is led by A Vardhan, Managing Director, a chartered accountant with 12 years of audit experience.

Getting started

What to expect before work begins.

How do we get started?

Tell us about the engagement by email. We agree scope, deliverables, deadlines and review points, set up secure access, and learn your templates before work begins.

Which engagement models do you offer?

A managed service with a fixed monthly fee per entity or deliverable, a dedicated team with a fixed monthly cost per full-time equivalent, and seasonal or on-demand support. The Clients page has the details.

How is pricing set?

Fees depend on the engagement model, the volume of work and the timeline. We do not publish rate cards. We confirm fees in writing when we scope the engagement.

Where are you based?

Our office is at B-109, Udai Marg, Tilak Nagar, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. You can email us at communication@theamberstreet.com.
